Wheatridge Invitational Results: September 10th, 2011

Pioneer Ridge ran in their first competition last Saturday at Celebration Park. Wheatridge Middle School set up an excellent course to run. The weather was perfect.  The running Jags competed against five other schools: Monticello, Ottawa, Wheatridge, Eudora, and Mill Creek.

Jewell Carter set a personal record (PR) with a one mile run of 7:20. Her time was good enough to place her 19th on the PRXC all time top 20 list. Another highlight of the day happened with 8th grader Karen Thompson. Karen ran the two mile race in 15:35. Karen's time was good enough to place her 16th on the PRXC all time top 20 list. Great job Jewell and Karen!

WMS Invitational - Refreshments

I wanted to share four reminders for the meet this Saturday.  All have to do with food and drink.
  1. Post race snack provider- Will Moore

  3. 8th grade parents will get food & beverage coupon at recognition ceremony
  4. Reminder to 8th grade runners to eat a "late" breakfast. Race times will be later in the morning for you.
One more reminder.  There will be a XC gathering with the Scotts on Friday, September 16th.  Mark your calendars for this event!  A big "thank you" to Deana Scott for leading this event!!  Thanks Deana!

PRXC - Jogging Jags: 25 minute running club

Can you run for 25 minutes without stopping to take a break?  That's what the running Jaguars did today in practice.  Runners who signed the "Jogging Jags" certificate (25 minute run club) were:

XC meet information: Wheatridge Invitational


Today's post will highlight important information concerning our first competition of the season.  The Jaguar XC team will be racing on Saturday, September, 10th.  This meet will be hosted by Wheatridge Middle School.  The WMS Invitational will start at 10:00 a.m. at Celebration Park.



Here is a list of important things to remember:
  • KSHSAA adornment rules will be enforced
  • Races will be held on an asphalt/gravel/dirt.  Spikes are discouraged
  • Restroom facilities are located on site.
  • A concession stand will be open on site.
  • Soccer games will be played on adjacent fields.  Expect a full parking lot.
  • Four races will be held (7th grade boys, 7th grade girls, 8th grade boys, & 8th grade girls)
  • Medals will be awarded to the top 5 finishers in each division.
  • Official time results will be sent the following Monday.
  • 7th grade (both genders) will run 1 mile.
  • 8th grade (both genders) will run 2 miles.
  • 8th grade Parent Recognition will be held for both WMS & PRMS between grade level races.
  • Team check-in will be at the shelter next to the playground.
  • Medals will be handed out at finish line.
TIME SCHEDULE:
  • 7th grade girls race - 10:00 a.m. (1 mile)
  • 7th grade boys race ~10:20 a.m. (1 mile) 
  • 8th grade Parent Recognition for PRMS & WMS ~10:40 a.m. 
  • 8th grade girls race ~10:50 a.m. (2 miles)
  • 8th grade boys race ~11:20 a.m. (2 miles)  race times are approximate

Labor Day - no official practice

The Pioneer Ridge cross country team will not have practice over Labor Day weekend.  Runners are encouraged to run 1 to 2 miles for one day over the three day weekend.

Upcoming events...

A reminder to parents, runners, and coaches that team pictures will be taken tomorrow (Sept. 2nd).  We will meet at 3:30 pm at the PRMS football stadium.  Runners will need to wear their maroon hoodies and sweat bottoms.  We will resume practice after pictures are taken.
